Emma is the Treasurer of Starbase 410 and her blog like Lisa's is mainly about stuff she's done that month and her Sci-Fi observations. Lisa and Emma tend to be the club members (along with their partners) that catch the most new sci-fi.
May 2008
Did you catch the quick flash of Rose when the Doctor was transmitting to Donna in the Tardis when she was on the Sontaren ship? RTD is obviously getting ready for bringing her back.
Went to Collectormania with Steve. I wanted to get Bruce Boxleitner to sign my Sheriden dolls bit his plane was delayed meaning by the time he stated signing we had to leave. We did have a good wander though and caught with a few old faces and I met some new ones. We bumped into Kevin and then Derek and Andre, later in the day Steve introduced me to Kehlen and Admiral James McKenzie of the Rapid Response Fleet. Not long before we left we were talking to a group of Klingons one of whom looked very familiar and turned out to be Keith Batt who was best man at Martins (The Generals) wedding and is a former SB410 member. Hopefully he will be coming to a meeting later in the year to talk about filming Star Trek of Gods and Men.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA POTENTIAL SPOILER!
Having some serious thoughts on the last cylon now. Convinced it’s not Starbuck, too obvious and have had second thoughts about Baltar. I figure for the cylon not to have revealed itself it must not have been in the fleet when the others were awakened by the nebula, I know that just screams STARBUCK at you but what about this, Ellen Tigh! I know Tigh killed her but what if she downloaded on New Caprica, the other cylons (Leobans, Capricas and Sharons, possibly the Deannas) could be hiding her and wouldn’t it just be the final kicker for Colonel Tigh. Andy thinks it might be Helo but I think he would have activated with the others. It has to be someone who wasn’t in the Nebula that means new Character (where would be the fun in that), someone who was left behind or someone who is presumed dead! I toyed with Tom Zarek (I wish) as well but again he was in the fleet.
We had our photo shoot at Venture in Cambridge, I won it a couple of months ago. The photographer had us all jumping and running although I drew the line at Mike giving me a piggyback, he hasn’t got a bad back yet but he would have if he’d done that. She took over a 100 photos that we are going back to look at next week. Not sure that we’ll be buying many at the prices they charge would need to take out a small mortgage just to get half a dozen let alone 100. The photo shoot was good fun though, Jack really enjoyed posing for the camera no surprise there and even did a couple of impromptu poses of his own that she loved.
Nice to see Lewis Hamilton back on form in the Turkish grand prix this weekend. Managed to qualify third finished second although he did lead the race for a while after passing Felipe Massa on the racing track, Massa had to use the pit stops to get back past him.
Following on Specsavers  Thunderbirds ad, last night I saw an Ad featuring Brains, he was dancing then goes and drinks some water starts dancing again and it turns out the ad is for Drench spring water with the tag line “Brains work better when they’re hydrated”, must admit I loved it. Don’t normally watch the ads but was checking out some telly on Sky One HD after Andy got me a Sky HD box and my new card just came to go in it. Word of advice though don’t bother with the Simpsons in HD some kind of weird pixilation makes them all look like they’ve got flashing eyes and makes the black outlines of the characters oscillate slightly, most disconcerting on the other hand though Battlestar Galactica looked really cool in HD, still not buying into Starbuck being number 5 yet though, they are hinting too strongly in that direction so they must be misleading us.
Am seriously working on some campaign stuff now as Lisa has thrown down the gauntlet, my dilemma at this stage is do junk e-mails sent to the voting addresses count coz they way it’s going Petrelli will win hands down on junk votes.

April 2008
Week 1
Well what a season finale to Torchwood. Glad they took care of the Owen being dead thread by finally actually killing him off, but was totally surprised that they decided to kill Tosh as well. I really liked her character. So typical of her to have hidden a message in the final logout command sequence though.
Dr Who was better than I was expecting with Catharine Tate. I may have to reserve judgement on that choice for a couple of episodes. She was better than in the Xmas episode and at least she doesn’t want to shag the Doctor, also doesn’t seem like she’ll take any crap from him. Did you see Rose?
Jack really liked the Adipose aliens; I think he’d probably like one as a pet so I know which toy I’ll be buying when they release one. It’s a pretty cool idea for weight loss though just not sure about if it goes wrong!
We won’t even talk about the Bahrain Grand Prix!

Week 2
Did anyone else see the new Specsavers ad? The Hood chases one of the Tracy boys (Virgil I think) through a tunnel and as they emerge Virgil’s glasses react to the light but the Hood is blinded, he should have gone to Specsavers. Cool!

Week 3
Yay! Battlestar Galacticas back! Great opening episode. I think that Baltar is the final cylon, had been leaning towards Starbuck but hopefully we’ll find out soon although they are both a bit obvious. Of the seven we knew about we’ve seen models one through six and eight. Baltar is the centre of things with the one god the cylons also believe in so I think that the four that were revealed are nine to twelve and Baltar is Seven as near as dammit the centre model. That’s mt logic on it that could all change as the series progresses though.

Week 4
Launched my Petrelli campaign at the meeting. Felt slightly guilty that due to car breakdown and ill healkth Lisa was unable to be there to launch here Saxon campaign personally but that soon passed and in true politicasl style I took full advantage of her absence to push my candidate.
BSG SPOILER – well the last cylon’s not Cally, what about Laura Roslin? But can cylons get cancer???
Must confess I’m starting to like CT as the new assistant in Dr Who. She seems to give him a conscience and make him stop and think about what he’s doing, for her it’s more than an adventure. I think there are times when Donna could quite happily go home and leave him but stays because without someone to say “oi mate hang on a minute” the Doctor is capable of doing some truly awful things. This is probably not going to be a popular opinion but there you go.

Week 1
Well it was a busy week. We had a visit from Neil Barnes who was sourcing sci-fi props for a new Talkback production. Steve, Mum and I managed to equip him with enough stuff to dress his set and earn a nice donation to club funds.
Monday saw the new Flash Gordon start on Sci-Fi. We’ve decided to give it a couple more episodes before giving up but need to see a drastic improvement on the first episode to make us keep watching beyond that.
Torchwood – not sure about the dead Owen storyline, can’t see how they can sustain that past the end of this series or the beginning of the next, after all he’s not going to heal anymore. Talking of things whovian, that leads quite nicely into Moonlight, a new show on Living featuring Sophie Myles (David Tennant’s ex) it’s about a PI who’s a vampire, pretty good apart from really crap blue screen. It’s really bad when they are driving at night in his BMW convertible, it reminds me of those old Audrey Hepburn and Clark Gable movies where the car id stationary and the scenery moves past them.
I’m also catching the re-runs of Life on Mars on Bravo whilst watching Ashes to Ashes, I must admit I prefer Ashes to Ashes, it’s lighter and funnier and I love the chemistry between Alex and Gene. Mind you I suppose the 80’s were lighter than the 70’s, not so dark and brooding. Being born in 1973 I am also much more a child (teen) of the 80’s music wise.

Week 2
Season finale of Stargate Atlantis was on this week. Not a bad ending to the season, can’t wait for Stargate: The Ark of Truth at Easter.
Went to Eclipse with Andy, Lisa & James. Had a good time won’t say too much here as I’ve written a report but the parties were the best con parties ever and the guests were great.
Saw some more Flash Gordon. It’s improved a bit on the first episode so gonna give it a bit longer.
Got up early on the Sunday of Eclipse to watch Lewis take resounding victory in the opening race of the Formula One season in Australia. A win made all the more sweet by both Ferraris failing to finish, although with only 7 of 22 starters finishing it was a fantastic race.

Week 3
Had too much chocolate at Easter.
Stargate: The Ark of Truth was good, a nice wrap up to the Ori storyline of seasons 9 and 10, looking forward to Continuum in the autumn. Recorded Terry Pratchetts The Colour of Magic but haven’t got around to watching it yet.
F1, Lewis only managed a 5th but on the up side his team mate took 3rd and Massa in the Ferrari failed to finish again leaving McLaren in a stronger position than Ferrari in the constructers’ championship. For the other teams I can only say wow about BMW they have come so far since last season, they are actually contending this season well done to Robert Kubica on his 2nd.

Week 4
There I was minding my own business watching The Unit when an ad for a new series ‘Chuck’ came on. Still paying very little attention until in the back of the picture I saw HIM.  Attention immediately grabbed I announced that we would be watching ‘Chuck’ when it starts. I have no idea what it’s about and quite frankly I don’t care, all I know is Adam Baldwin’s in it so I’m watching it!
Loved what they did with the season finale of Ashes to Ashes. The idea that it was Gene Hunt who was the first to Alex when her parent’s car exploded was great. Perhaps that’s why Gene figures so highly in her “Constructed Reality” coz her subconscious secretly wants him to save her again.
Finally got around to watching Resident Evil: Extinction. Not bad. Hope they make a 4th, it was left open for a really good if they go for it. Also got back into season 4 of Farscape once we’d caught up on the sky plus. Loved the episode ‘Unrealized Realities’ it’s always good when the characters portray each other it shows how good the actors in Farscape are.On one last note. When will Sarah Connor figure out what we all already know, a thing all these self aware Terminators, good and bad, also know. If she prevents Skynet from being built John Connor will cease to exist as there will be no way or reason to send Kyle Reese back to protect her and father John. Therefore she will know that it’s truly over when her efforts to stop Skynet being built result in John Connor ceasing to exist. Or will time just reset and let her live out her life with no knowledge of what might have been. Failing that we have a paradox.
