In
1994 a filmed called Stargate was released. It presented the idea of
travel to another planet via a device that generated an artificial
wormhole. 2 years later in 1997 a spin off TV series hit our screens
called Stargate SG1. The series picked up a year after the end of
the film and ran successfully for 10 years generating its own spin
off TV series, Stargate Atlantis and, at time of writing 2 more
movies and the rumour of another series (see below).
