Episode 1 - Encounter at Farpoint (Part 1)
The USS Enterprise NC1701-D arrives at Farpoint Station where the Captain Jean Luc Picard will evaluate the station and it's people for entry into The Federation. Whilst there the Enterprise will collect some new officers including the new 1st Officer Cmdr William Riker and it's new chief Medical officer Dr. Beverly Crusher, they will also have the first of many encounters with a lifeform / entity known as Q.

Episode 2 - Encounter at Farpoint (Part 2)
Q decides gather more evidence about humans before he casts judgement upon them as a species and the crew of the Enterprise discover that Farpoint Station is a lifeform that has been imprisoned when it's mate comes looking for it and attacks the planet.

Deanna is trapped inside a crashed shuttle that is covered by an entity that is pure evil and resembles an oil slick. Troi tries to empathise with the creature's pain as the crew try to rescue her, but tragedy awaits the crew of the Enterprise as one of their most valued members is killed.
