Designed as the Flagship show of the United Paramount Network, the Producers wanted to try something new; moving on from Deep Space Nines feeling of confinement and hostility between its crew. Voyager was to explore the relations ship between a Starfleet Crew under Captain Kathryn Janeway, played by Kate Mulgrew; and a Maquis (or terrorist group) Under the Command of an ex Starfleet Officer known as Chakotay as played by Robert Beltran. The Pilot sees the many of the USS. Voyager’s crew killed; and the ship stranded 70’000 lightyears from home. This forces the two crews into an uneasy alliance aboard the USS. Voyager. This series chronicles their trials and adventures as the crew attempts to make their way home to the relative safety of the Federation.
